Mr. Freddie Roy Lewers, 85, of Alba, passed away on June 27, 2025, in Quitman. Services honoring his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home in Alba, with Bro. Jerry Phillips officiating.
Military honors and interment will follow at Emory City Cemetery in Emory.
Born October 31, 1939, in Alba, Freddie was the son of James Lionell and Mildred Elbethel Buchanan Lewers. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander after 22 years of distinguished service. Notably, he was the first to install computers on a battleship, marking a milestone in naval innovation.
Freddie was a member of the Grand Saline Masonic Lodge and the Tyler Sharon Temple. He was also a member of Harvest Acres Baptist Church in Mineola.
Freddie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ramona Mae Melton Lewers; brothers, James Larry Lewers, and Robert Earl Lewers; daughter, Pamela Denise Lewers McCartney; and son-in-law, Carl Morris.
Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Morris of Alba; son-in-law, Chuck McCartney of Mineola; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chuck McCartney, Chris Morris, Coty Morris, Lance Ripley, Riley Odom, Matt Janes, and Zach Morris.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
