Eugene R. "Gene" Lundak, of Houston, Minnesota, passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on July 12, 1944, in Cresco, Iowa, Gene lived a life marked by dedication to education, community service, and a generous spirit.
Gene graduated from Crestwood High School in Cresco before pursuing higher education with unwavering commitment. He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. He continued his academic journey with a second master’s degree from the University of Evansville in Illinois and later achieved a doctorate through the University of Phoenix Online. His passion for learning was matched only by his devotion to teaching; Gene spent the majority of his professional career as an educator in the Math and Computer Science Departments at Winona State University, where he inspired countless students with his knowledge and mentorship.
Beyond the classroom, Gene was deeply involved in philanthropic and civic organizations. He was an active member of groups such as the Lions Club, Odd Fellows, Kiwanis, and others—always eager to lend a hand or contribute to causes that uplifted those around him. Whether it was organizing events or simply helping someone with a project, Gene’s generosity left a lasting impact on his community.
In earlier years, Gene enjoyed bowling and later found joy in bringing smiles to others as a clown—a reflection of his lighthearted nature and desire to brighten lives. His willingness to help others extended into all aspects of life; he was known for stepping up whenever someone needed assistance.
Gene is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Lundak (Sanders-Anderson); daughter Steda I. Lundak; son Levi Lundak and daughter-in-law Kimberly Lundak; step-son Terry Anderson and his spouse Laurie Anderson; step-son Larry Anderson and his spouse Tracey Anderson; brother David Lundak; and six cherished grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Rudolph Lundak; mother Irene Lundak (Vopava); and brother John Lundak.
May Eugene R. "Gene" Lundak’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire acts of kindness within the communities he served so faithfully.
