Eugene Meier

Eugene Meier, 91, of Fargo, Oklahoma passed away November 19, 2025, in Woodward, Oklahoma. Gene was born June 3,1934 in Shattuck, Oklahoma, the son of Ed and Agnes (Schickedanz) Meier. He was united in marriage to Rae Ann Kerchner on November 25, 1953, in Fargo.
He is survived by his wife Rae Ann, son E.J. (Leah) of Denver. Grandchildren: E.J. (Greta) Brown, Ali (Michael) Tinich, Kelsey Seessengood, Kayla (Tyler) Bishop. Great grandchildren: Eli, Austin, Kendra & Amber Brown, Dallas & Vera Tinich, Peyton & Rylee Seessengood, Ava, and Brooks Bishop. Brother-in-law Bill Kerchner of Woodward, sister-in-law Peggy Jeffrey of Albuquerque. Nieces: Kay (Doug) Bowles, Sharon Wunsch, Karen O'Hair, Patti Meier, Raechell Smith, and Vickie (David) Hunter. Nephews: Steve (Susan) Meier, Mike (Shelly) Meier, Kurt (Lisa) Kerchner, Charles Dean (Maureen) Jeffrey and Kevin (Ellen) Morehart.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Veronique and her husband Jeff Brown. Parents Ed and Agnes Meier and in-laws EJ and Aldean Kerchner. Sisters Dawn Rogers, Della Morehart, and brother Edward Meier. Nephews Alan Wunsch, Bobby Poppe and niece Diana Denton.
Gene was actively involved in the Fargo community by serving as Mayor and on the city council. The two accomplishments he was most proud of working on were the improvements to the city water system, including the new water tower, and the annual community cleanup day. After his retirement at age 65 in the business world where Gene was involved in the manufacture and service of agricultural and lawn and garden equipment, he ran the maintenance department at Fargo-Gage Schools for over 20 years where he helped oversee the updates to the existing facilities and then maintaining the new school, the new event center and the new ball field. He also oversaw the expansion and upgrade of the transportation fleet in the school system.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Fargo Global Methodist Church where Gene was a member.
