Eugene J O'Neill

Eugene J. O'Neill, 85, of Point Pleasant Boro, passed away peacefully on Friday August 18, 2023, at Ocean Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. Eugene was born in Bayonne and was raised in Point Pleasant where he was a graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School. After high school Eugene enlisted into the US Navy and served for three years, in the USS Tilefish SS-307 submarine. Eugene worked for his father after his military service at Aqua Well Drilling before starting his 35-year career with JCP&L. He retired as a line chief. Eugene was a communicant of St Peters Church, Point Pleasant, a past president of Knights of Columbus Council 7926 St Martha's Church, and a member of the submarine veteran's association. Eugene would spend time volunteering at the Veteran's Administration Clinic.
Eugene was predeceased by his parents Terrence and Mary O'Neill, and a brother Terrence O'Neill. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Carol (nee Kilman) O'Neill of Point Pleasant Borough, his loving children, Jennifer Romano and her husband Noah of Juno Beach, FL, Catherine Koeppen of Point Pleasant, and Michael O'Neill and his wife Robin of Brick. Eugene was the cherished grandfather of Rachael, Noah and his wife Tavi, Kevin and his fiancé Sara, Zachery, and Michael, Jr. and his fiancé Alyssa, and also great grandson James. He also is survived by his sister Edith Gist, her husband Gary of Tampa, FL. and their family. As well as several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday August 23, 2023, from 5-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am on Thursday August 24, 2023, at St Peters Church 406 Forman Avenue Point Pleasant NJ 08742. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
