Gene passed peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kay Pabin (Becker), sons Tom (Amy) and Bryan (Karyn), brothers Larry (Annie) and John (Terry), and is the proud Grandfather of 5: Kelsey (Jon) Voelker, Matthew, Carly,
Sarah, and Chloe. He is preceded in death by his parents (Mike & Mary) and his brother (Michael).
Gene was born in Martins Ferry, OH on November 28, 1944 and spent most of his life in the Cleveland area (Broadview Heights, Brook Park, and Medina). He served in the US Army for two years, including one in Vietnam as an Ammunition Specialist. He earned an Associate Degree in Industrial Supervision and worked for USG Westlake for 35 years.
Gene's hobbies included photography and films, gardening, cooking, camping, visiting National Parks, biking and just being outside. He had been to all 50 states. If you get a chance to take a hike or visit a park, think of Gene and enjoy the beautiful outdoors! And if you are enjoying your favorite beverage, maybe a Yeungling, send up
a toast to him; he would appreciate that as well!
