Eugene George Prell

Eugene G. "Gene" Prell, a proud veteran and devoted family man, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Barrington, Illinois. He was 99 years old.
Born on July 22, 1926, in Melrose Park, Illinois, Gene lived a long and meaningful life marked by service to his country and deep dedication to his loved ones. His early years were shaped by the values of hard work and patriotism, which led him to enlist in the U.S. Army during World War II. His commitment to service continued as he later served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Gene shared many cherished years with his beloved wife, Joyce Dona Fisher, who preceded him in death. Together they built a strong and loving family that became the center of Gene's world.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters: Donna Perry (Mike Bresnahan), Diane Zavoli (John), and Denise Wojcik (Dave). He was also preceded in death by his daughter Debra Palm (Gary), whose memory remains close to the hearts of those who knew her.
Gene took great pride in his role as grandfather to David Perry (Nadia), Steven Perry (Erica), JT Zavoli (Michelle), Lucas Zavoli (Kelly), Dominic Zavoli, Jennifer Wojcik, and Michael Wojcik. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Leo Perry; Taylor-Anne Zavoli; Riley-Mae Zavoli; Ava Zavoli; and Mia Zavoli. The legacy of love and strength he leaves behind will continue through each of them.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Mark Perry.
Gene's life was one of quiet strength, enduring commitment, and unwavering support for those he held dear. His military service stands as a testament to his courage and sense of duty, while his devotion to family reflects a life well-lived.

A Funeral Service will be held on September 3, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 01:30 PM at Justen Funeral Home and Crematory 3700 W Charles Miller Road.
