EUGENE J. RUSCHER age 77, beloved husband of Donna (nee Wirsing) for 56 years; loving father of Chris (Carrie) Ruscher, Kelly (Geoff) Thompson, and Kevin Ruscher; devoted grandfather of Ryley Thompson, Tyler Thompson, and Phineas Ruscher; cherished son of the late Eugene Francis and Helen (nee Lampert) Ruscher; dearest brother of Harry (Joan) Meyer, Edward Meyer, Patrick (Anne) Meyer, and Helen Meyer; and the dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Eugene (Gene) was born on March 10, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio and made the Chesterland area home for more than 50 years. After graduating from West Geauga High School, he gave aid to his community over the last 50 years as a local insurance agent. Gene was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and served as an elder in the congregation for several decades. He enjoyed being outside whether he was playing a round of golf, cutting the grass or sitting in his favorite chair in the sun. He also had an appreciation for reading the comics that were printed in the newspaper. Of special importance was being with his family and he relished being a grandpa. Together he and his family played sports, games, and traveled on vacations. On December 1, 2024, Gene passed away leaving his family and friends missing his lending ear, goofy jokes, and the way he fondly teased them.
Family will receive friends to commemorate, reminisce and share our favorite memories of Gene at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 3-5 PM.
A brief Bible discourse of his hope will immediately follow at 5 PM at the funeral home.
