Eugene F. Sentz

Eugene F. "Pete" Sentz, age 85, of McSherrystown, passed away at Columbia Cottage in Hanover on August 2, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Kathryn V. (Groft) Sentz who passed away on July 8, 2024; together they shared 65 years of marriage.

Pete was born in Littlestown, PA on February 28, 1940 and was the son of the late Kenneth and Mildred (Smith) Sentz. He proudly served his country in the United States National Guard and as young parents, Pete and Kathy owned Bresler's Ice Cream Shoppe in the North Hanover Mall. He later retired from National Can Corp where he was a machine mechanic. He enjoyed trips to casinos and Ocean City, doing crossword puzzles, golfing, and watching his family grow. Pete also enjoyed serving beers, having beers, and playing the jars at McSherrystown's Knights of Columbus and Home Association. He was also a member of the McSherrystown Moose, the New Oxford Social Club, and a parishioner of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in McSherrystown.

Pete is survived by his daughter Lori Laughman and husband Randy; his daughter-in-law Stephanie (Noel) Sentz; three grandchildren Jared Roomsburg, Rebecca (Sentz) King, and Christie (Sentz) Kennedy; and five great-grandchildren Morgan, Kendall, and Wyatt Roomsburg, Skylee King, and Kelsea Kennedy. He is also survived by his siblings Larry and Chris Sentz, Hope Strausbaugh, and Camilla Sneeringer. He was preceded in death by his son David A. Sentz; and by his brothers Pat, Charlie, and Keith Sentz.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Pete's Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 12:00 noon at Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church, 26. N Third St., McSherrystown, PA 17344 with Rev. Richard Lyons as celebrant. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 11:00AM – 12:00 noon prior to the Mass at Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church.

A Celebration of Life for both Eugene and Kathryn will be held following the interment on Thursday at the McSherrystown Knights of Columbus, 342 Main St., McSherrystown, PA 17344.
