Eugene "Gene" "EP" Szymanowski Obituary
Eugene "EP" "Gene" Szymanowski, 78, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Creekside Village.
Gene was born on June 16, 1947 in South Bend, IN to the late Roman and Carrie Szymanowski. He was also preceded in death by his son, Christopher Szymanowski.
Left to cherish the memory of Gene are his son, Michael (Jennifer) Szymanowski; grandchildren, Carrie, Kyle, Kate, and Ryne Szymanowski; and a brother, Ernie (Margie) Szymanowski
Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, VFW, Veterans of Foreign Wars, NRA, and USO. Gene worked for the United States Postal Service from 1964 until retiring as the transportation manager in 2002. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He was also an avid reader, reading hundreds of books over the years. Gene enjoyed hanging out with his postal buddies at the local watering holes.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 25, 2025 in St. Joseph Cemetery, 24851 Grant Rd., South Bend, IN 46619.
