Eugenia "Jeannie" Rue Pearson, 88, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Jeannie was born on August 4, 1937 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was the beloved wife of Robert "Bob" Edward Pearson, with whom she shared 40 years of love, partnership, and dedication to family prior to his death earlier in 2025. She was the loving mother to her daughter Elizabeth Rue Brennan and her son, Stephen Robert Rue (Elizabeth Herberg). Jeannie was cherished by her brother, J. Robert Ates, and her granddaughters Brooke Bridgeman Brennan (Mac Brennan), Ashley Elizabeth Brennan (Jack Schwietz), GiGi Herberg (Craig LaMandola), and her beloved dog Dolly. Her parents, Loten A. Ates and Eugenia Carpenter Ates, predeceased her.

In 1959, Jeannie graduated from Tulane/Sophie Newcomb with a B.A. degree in education, which set Jeannie up for a successful lifelong career as a teacher. Jeannie spent 27 years as a teacher in the Jefferson Parish Public School system, primarily at Schneckenburger Elementary School, where she specialized in reading.

A service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Garden of Memories in Metairie to celebrate her life. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the service begins. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Humane Society of Louisiana.
