Eugenio Aguilar September 9, 1939 – October 14, 2025 It is with hearts full of love and cherished memories that we celebrate the life of Eugenio Aguilar, who passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on October 14, 2025, surrounded by those who held him dear. Eugenio's journey was one of joy, resilience, and unwavering faith, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Born and raised in
Lockhart, Texas, Eugenio entered the world blind, yet this never dimmed his vibrant spirit. Though he grew up without formal education, he blossomed into a remarkable self-taught accordionist, mastering the instrument with passion and skill. He delighted in playing conjunto music alongside his brother in the band Domingo Zapata y su Conjunto, where his talents shone brightly and brought smiles to countless faces. Eugenio was a beacon of happiness-a wonderful soul who embraced everyone he met with open arms and genuine warmth. His love for life was infectious; he reveled in dancing, tuning into his favorite radio tunes, and simply savoring each moment. Above all, his deep devotion to our Lord was a guiding light, as he faithfully prayed the rosary every day, finding peace and strength in his faith. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Francisco Aguilar and Virginia G. Aguilar. Eugenio leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure his memory: his devoted sister and caregiver, Carmen Perales of Bastrop; brother Domingo Zapata, Sr. of Lockhart; sisters Lorenza A. Estrada of Bastrop and Eloisa Stuntz of Austin; brother Candelario Aguilar of Waco; and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. We extend our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to Carmen Perales, whose selfless dedication and extraordinary care illuminated Eugenio's days with unparalleled compassion and tenderness. As his unwavering guardian angel, Carmen provided the absolute best in loving support, tending to his every need with a grace and devotion that words can scarcely capture. Eugenio was profoundly appreciative of her boundless generosity and tireless commitment, which truly exemplified the purest form of familial love. In his final moments, he was comforted by the presence of loved ones, with his sister Carmen steadfastly by his side until his very last breath, after other family members had visited the day before and departed. Her heroic vigil was a beautiful reflection of the deep, unbreakable bond they shared, ensuring he was enveloped in comfort and affection to the end.
