Wilma Jean Allen, a beacon of joy and laughter, was called home to the Lord on August 2, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on June 30, 1950, in the quaint town of Malden, Missouri, Wilma's infectious humor and boundless optimism were evident from an early age. She departed this world in Austin, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith.
Wilma, known fondly by all as the sister who could light up any room with her wit, was the heart of every family gathering. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Pete and Mary Allen, her dear sisters, Carol Chytil, Elvira Zamarripa, and Rebecca Allen-Rodriguez, and her cherished brother, Wayne Allen. Their reunion in heaven is undoubtedly a joyous one, filled with the sounds of their shared laughter once again.
She leaves behind a tapestry of memories cherished by her siblings: Patricia De Santiago, Pamela Hansen, Monica Allen, Paul Allen, Gilbert Allen, and Steve Allen, along with their spouses. Each of them carries a spark of Wilma's spirit, which she nurtured through her loving and funny nature. Her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews also basked in the warmth of her love, each of them a testament to her boundless capacity to care and to make every moment a celebration.
Wilma walked in faith, and her life was a testament to Christian values. She was the embodiment of love and light, often joking that she'd have the angels in stitches within minutes of her arrival at the pearly gates. Her humor was her ministry, a way to connect with others and to spread the Gospel with a smile. She believed in the power of laughter to heal, to bridge gaps, and to bring people closer to God.
In her lifetime, Wilma's laughter echoed through the halls of churches, brightened the spirits of those in hospitals, and comforted friends and family during life's trials. She had an uncanny ability to find the silver lining in every cloud and to remind us all that, as the Good Book says, "A cheerful heart is good medicine." Wilma lived by this proverb, prescribing doses of her cheerful heart to all she encountered.
Her optimism was not just a personal trait but a gift she shared freely, encouraging everyone to look on the bright side and trust in the Lord's plan. Wilma often quipped that she was on a first-name basis with optimism, and indeed, she was. Her faith and her humor were intertwined, each strengthening the other, and through her example, she taught us all the value of facing life's challenges with a grin and a prayer.
Wilma's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her care team with Hospice Austin, particularly her doctor Justin, her nurse Morgan and her care team led by Mecca, along with her primary care provided by her doctor, Venessa with the VPA group. They embraced her with open arms and were a source of comfort and friendship in her final months & years. Her vibrant spirit will forever be cherished and remembered as a blessing to us all.
As we bid farewell to Wilma Jean Allen, we celebrate her life-a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and unshakeable faith. We imagine her now, telling jokes to a heavenly audience, her laughter mingling with the celestial chorus in eternal joy. While we will miss her dearly, we take comfort in knowing that she has found peace in the arms of our Savior, and we look forward to the day when we will join her in laughter once again.
Wilma's life was a reminder that the joy of the Lord is our strength, and even in our grief, we can hear her saying, "Keep smiling, the best is yet to come!" Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, and her memory will be cherished in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Until we meet again, dear Wilma, keep heaven laughing.
