Jose Luis Lopez Del Toro

Jose Luis Lopez Del Toro, a Marine Corps Sergeant, former police officer, entrepreneur, and proud patriarch, passed away on 8/1/2025 at the age of 73. Born into a large family as the only brother among six sisters, Jose learned early the values of resilience and independence. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Sergeant, and later continued a life of service as a police officer. Eventually, he forged his own path as a business owner and entrepreneur, always demonstrating a keen mind and resourceful spirit. He was a jack of all trades - never one to shy away from hard work or a challenge. Whether fixing something with his hands or building something from the ground up, Jose took pride in his ability to find a way forward. Jose was the father of eight children and the grandfather of nineteen. As the patriarch of a large and growing family, his legacy lives on in the lives, strength, and resilience of those who carry his name and bloodline. Though his life was not without distance and complexity, and some relationships remained unresolved, there is space now for reflection, understanding, and peace. His story was one of strength, imperfection, and undeniable impact. He is survived by his wife, children, step-children, grandchildren, 7 sisters, and extended family. He will be remembered in many different ways by many different people - and in that, he leaves behind a full and lasting legacy. May he rest in peace. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025.
