Eugenio Rivera Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home & Crematory - Kempsville Chapel on Jan. 2, 2026.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eugenio Rivera, a beloved father, brother, and friend, who departed this life on December 24, 2025, at the age of 84. A resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Eugenio graced this world with his spirited presence and unwavering dedication to his family.
Born on March 22, 1941, Eugenio lived a life filled with stories, laughter, and the joy of connection. He was known not only for his quick wit but also for his cherished role as an avid storyteller, captivating those around him with tales from his life. As a proud father to five sons-Anthony, Eugenio Jr., Gregory, Gary, and Daniel-he instilled in them the values of family, resilience, and the importance of keeping the home warm and welcoming, albeit with a gentle reminder to keep the noise down after 10 PM.
Eugenio had a passion for handball, which kept him active and engaged in the community. He was also a cinema enthusiast, often relishing the opportunity to share a good movie with family and friends. In addition, he was a collector of antiquities, amassing a treasure trove of items that reflected his appreciation for the past. His playful charm extended to his ability to perform small magic tricks, making candy and money seemingly appear from behind the ear, much to the delight of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved sons, as well as his brother, Braulio; and sisters, Gloria, Nancy, whose love and support were constants in his life. His legacy continues with the laughter and joy he brought to his grandchildren: Kathryn, Gabrielle, Dominique, Angelica, Annora, and Tristan, who will forever treasure their memories of time spent with him. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews, he was an amazing uncle and had a big impact on many of their lives.
Eugenio's life was a testament to the simple joys of connection and love, and he made every effort to open his home to family, embodying the spirit of togetherness that he so cherished.
He will be remembered not just for the life he lived, but for the love he shared and the stories he told. He will be deeply missed but lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
