Share your Memorial with Family & FriendsEugenia M. Birkhead passed away peacefully in her home on May 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family after several weeks together - a gift that will forever be cherished. She was 82 years old.Eugenia is now reunited in eternal life with her beloved husband, Colonel Thomas Birkhead, Sr., her son Ernest, and her daughter Teresa. Her legacy continues through the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely. She is survived by her three sons: Michael (and wife Carma), Thomas Jr. (and wife Carmen), and George (and wife Jennifer). She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren - Sean, Gina, Dara, Jody, Kelly, Corey, Carley, Lane, Addison, Samantha, Alexandra, Jasmine, and Teresa - and nine great-grandchildren: Mallory, David, Jackson, Lilly, Oak, Ocean, Maya, and Nathan.Born on January 21, 1943, Eugenia moved to Cocoa Beach in the early 1960s, where she managed the Pillowtalk Lounge before becoming the heart and soul of the family business at the Satellite Motel, which she co-owned and operated alongside her husband until her retirement in 1997. Afterward, she devoted her life to what mattered most: her family, her grandchildren, and her passion for fishing.Eugenia was never far from the water - whether fishing off the coast of Florida, traveling to Alaska, or casting a line in the Carolinas and Maryland. Her fishing adventures were often shared with her brother Richard and his wife Gail, as well as her children and grandchildren. She had a special gift for bringing people together - organizing unforgettable trips and always making room for one more in the boat. She loved nothing more than to have a fishing pole in one hand and a cold Bud Light in the other, often saying, "If I could die that way, I'd be very happy."But Eugenia was far more than an avid fisherman. She was the rock of her family - calm and easygoing, yet steadfast when it mattered most. She was the one everyone could count on - whether you needed a hot meal, a place to stay, a word of wisdom, or simply someone who truly cared. Her generosity extended far beyond her family. Many of her children's friends considered her a second mother, and many more found comfort, guidance, and unconditional support in her presence. She adopted hearts wherever she went. Her spirit of selflessness, her deep sense of responsibility, and her boundless capacity for love made her not just a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend - but a cornerstone of her community.Eugenia will be missed every single day. Her memory will live on in the stories told, the meals shared, the laughter heard over the sound of waves, and especially in every cast line and every boat ride planned. Her love of fishing lives on through the generations she nurtured. And above all, her legacy as a devoted mother, grandmother, friend, and guiding light will forever remain.God bless her memory. Tight lines forever, Mom.Graveside services will be held 10:30AM, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Our Saviour Catholic Church Memorial Garden in Cocoa Beach, FL. Reception to follow in the Angel Room on the church property.
