Eula Hall Frizzell, 92, of Sylva, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Clay County Care Center.
Eula was born on July 30, 1931 to the late Richard and Mamie McMahan Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Darrell Frizzell, who passed away in 2023; three brothers, Clyde, Lyle, and Zeb Hall; and one sister, Ruby Hall. In Eula's early years, she lived in California and was a stay at home mom and took care of three young children. She, along with her husband, was a founding member of the First Baptist Church in McKineyville, California. After the family moved back to North Carolina, Eula worked in the medical field as ward clerk at the hospital. She was one of the first employees of the Sylva Medical Center and worked for Dr. Fisher. In her latter years, she was happy to be at home taking care of her grandchildren and going to their games and activities. She was their number one supporter. She loved her church and was very involved having never missed a Sunday or a service. Eula taught the Adult Ladies Sunday school class and sang in the choir. In her later years and her eyesight began to fail, she still sang in the choir even though she couldn't see the music. She knew all the hymns by memory and was an inspiration to everyone.
She is survived by children, Roger Frizzell (Marilyn), Belinda Allison (Ralph), and Randall "Pete" Frizzell (Rachel); five grandchildren, Brent Allison (Brandi), Rocky Frizzell (JoAnna), Tiffany Eagleman (Jay), Brody Frizzell (Maegan), and Jarrod Frizzell; and twelve great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Kele, Hudson Troy, Hazel, Joseph, Cody, Kaylee, Brooklyn, Rylee, Lilly, Daisy, and Vyolet. Eula is also survived by a sister, Genevieve Coates of Marshall; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Reverend Tom Lavin officiating.
