Eunice Limberg Obituary

Eunice Matilda Koch Limberg

1924 - 2026

Eunice Matilda Koch Limberg, was born July 16, 1924, on the family farm near Owensville, Missouri. She passed away in Lompoc, California on February 12, 2026. Early on she was given the nickname "June." She was the 8th of 10 children of the late Henry F. Koch and Caroline M. (Drewal) Koch.

Growing up on a farm with no running water, no indoor plumbing and all the other challenges of farm life during the 1920's and 1930's, June shared many of the family responsibilities with her parents and siblings. She attended a one-room school with some of her siblings. She lived through some of the "dust bowl" experiences that reached their home -- far beyond Oklahoma.

She graduated from Owensville High School May 16, 1943. Some of her siblings had moved to California, others followed. In 1944, the farm was sold and June moved to California with the remainder of the family. She got a job working for the Railway Express Company in downtown Los Angeles.

On October 5, 1946, she married George Limberg who had had grown up on an adjacent farm near Owensville. George had returned after years of military service in World War II helping to construct air bases in England and then in Europe as the allied forces advanced after D-Day. She and George lived in an apartment near Echo Part for a few years, then purchased what became their longtime home in Monterey Park. George worked in the construction field, was extremely capable, and after a few years he and June became owners of their own construction business. June was fully involved. They operated the business for many, many years until they retired.

As they retired, George and June gradually relocated to Lompoc. June's brother Ray had moved there. They lived part-time at the "Jason" house and part-time in Monterey Park. Following George's passing in 2005, June purchased the "Manley" house. It became "her special place." Over the years it became a very special, joyful gathering place for family and friends.

June was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Caroline Koch; her beloved husband George Limberg; brothers and sisters: Calvin (wife Marge) Koch, Virgil (wife Florence) Koch, Clifford (wife Gladys) Koch, Telfair (wife Patsy) Koch, Raymond Koch, Gertrude (husband Howard) Miller, Estella (husband Lester) Ash, Bernice (husband John) Morton, Dorothy (husband Jack) McGregor. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great grandnephews - and by wonderful friends far too numerous to list. She was a great inspiration to all and dearly loved. Special thanks go to so many who helped her and acted as loved-ones, friends and caregivers during her later years and to the very end of her life.

Family and friends are invited to memorial services to be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 25, at the Boyko & Reardon Telegraph Road Mortuary, 15 Teloma Dr., Ventura, CA 93003. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Gasconade County Mo. Historical Society (/www.gasconadecountyhistoricalsociety.com/support-the-gchs) or a charity of your choice.
