The family of Eunice Jean Smith of Lubbock, Texas is saddened to announce her passing on January 17 th
2025 at 89 years of age surrounded by her loved ones. Eunice was born on June 8, 1935 in Canton, Tx to
James Wages and Ruby McElroy. Eunice met and then wed her late husband Ernest Smith in 1949.
During her lifetime, Eunice lived with her family in Oklahoma, California, and Texas where she was an
exceptional seamstress and homemaker to her and Ernest six children. She filled the home with
laughter, happiness, while passing on her love of Elvis Presley and George Strait.
Eunice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years Ernest Smith, her daughter Anita
Hillhouse, her brothers Jack and Virgil Wages, and her sister Reba Crawford.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and sister.
Mitchell and wife Uetta, grandchildren Marcie, Jason, Joshua and wife Amber, Matthew and wife Erika,
great grandchildren Grayson, Diego, Evelyn, Colton, Josaline, Delilah, Krieger, Mia, Ryder, McKenna, and
Kade.
The late Anita and late husband Ed Hillhouse, grandchildren Douglas, Karen, great grandchildren Kiana,
and Kalina.
Randy and wife Pam, grandchildren Hubble and wife Amy, Scotty, Tamara, great grandchildren Justin,
Hunter, and Tatum.
Linda and her late husband Andy Norris, grandchildren Michael, Eric, Timothy, Rebecca and husband
Keith, great grandchildren Abby, Anik, Shelby, Stryker, Andi, Alaynah, and Kolt.
Brian and wife Belinda, grandchildren Coty Tanquary, Chad Tanquary, and great grandchild Karli.
James Smith, grandchild Hope and Stephen, great grandchildren Kallee, Kaeden, and Brooklynn.
Sister Nellie Bowie, her son Jimmy and wife Emily, their children Tracy, Erik, Marissa, Duke, and Delaney.
A viewing for Eunice will be held on Tuesday January 21st from 5pm to 7pm at Agape Funeral Chapel,
6625 West 19 th St Suite 103, Lubbock TX. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January
22nd at Agape Funeral Chapel, 6625 West 19 th St Suite 103, Lubbock TX. Burial will be at Peaceful
Gardens, 15602 SH-493, Lubbock, TX 79423, immediately following.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Lakeside Nursing and Rehab Facility as
well as Hospice of South Plains for their care and compassion.
