Euvah Marie Stuart, age 91, took the next step in her journey on Monday, July 5, 2021. Euvah was born December 31, 1929, to Herman Hershel Buckley and Hilda Marie Sandine Buckley in rural Cozad, Nebraska. She attended elementary school at Pine Ridge School District 80 and graduated from Cozad High School in 1947. She was honored to be named runner up in the Miss Cozad contest. While walking to work at Ed Nielsen's insurance agency, she caught the eye of the love of her life. Euvah married her sweetheart, D.M. (Cot) Stuart on December 16, 1951. They spent their early marriage in San Juan, Puerta Rico and Tampa, Florida, where Cot was stationed in the Air Force. After his discharge they spent the rest of their lives together in Cozad where they raised their son and daughter. Euvah cherished being a wife, mom, and pet owner. She loved music, flower gardening, baking, and cooking for a "threshing crew" as she referred to a large hungry group. Euvah is survived by her loving husband of 69 ½ years, Cot, her son David Marquet (Ket) Stuart, daughter Ellie Marie Wakefield, son-in-law Dan Wakefield, grandson James Stuart Wakefield, and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, an infant sister, sister Yvonne (Bonnie) West, and brothers Herschel Buckley and Richard Buckley.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church. Services will be Friday, July 9, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jill Boyd and Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery.
