Eva Jane (Holway) Needs, 85, of Centerville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at The McCarthy Care Center in East Sandwich, MA. She was kind-hearted, thoughtful, creative, and an excellent listener. Eva was a true Cape Codder growing up in Centerville, MA. She was born to the late Harry L Holway II and Vieno (Kalilo) Holway and was proud of her Finnish heritage. Eva graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of Arts in Art. During the summer, she was the organist at the Centerville Congregational Church. She adored listening to and playing opera music. Eva married Bill Needs, and they made their home in Vero Beach, FL. It was here she took great pride in her position as office manager for the Florida Eye Institute. Later in life, after the passing of her husband Bill, Eva moved back to her family home in Centerville, MA, where she continued to work as a receptionist at various companies, including the JFK Museum in Hyannis. Eva loved to golf, was a passionate quilter and knitter, and had a vast interest in Sandwich glass. She had a flair for bright colors and loved lobster. Eva was a very active and independent woman who was loved by her family and many friends.
Eva is survived by her son Matthew Casey, his wife Lisa, and her two grandsons, Sean Casey, his wife Kim, and Bryan Casey. She is also survived by her brother, Harry L. Holway III, and his wife, Carol Curtis; by the late Megan Holway, Harry's first wife and the mother of his children; their daughters, Kristen Holway Arterburn, married to Dr. David Arterburn, and Bethany Gardner; her great-niece Brittany Kenworthy, husband AMCS Justin Kenworthy, and their daughters, Amelia and Olivia; as well as her great-niece Allysanne Gardner. She leaves many loving cousins with whom she has kept in contact over the years. She leaves behind her dear dog, Duff, who has a new loving home. She always said he was the most handsome man in her Life.
The family would like to thank you the loving and dedicated staff at the McCarthy Care Center for their support and expertise in providing her end-of-life care and meeting her needs with dignity, pain management, and respect. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the JFK Museum, Hyannis, MA. Funeral service will be held at the Chapman Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd,
Marstons Mills, MA. on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 11:00 – 1:00. Graveside service will follow at Beachwood Cemetery, Centerville. All are invited back to the Masonic Lodge, 1989 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA, for a celebration reception honoring her character and good fight!
