Death is a time of sleeping. For when we die, we are in God's keeping. But there's a sunrise for each soul. For life is not death, it's God's promised goal. So, trust God's promise and doubt Him never. For only through death can we live forever.
March 10, 1936, witnessed the birth of Eva Damaris Reynolds to Leonard Reynolds and Ethlyn Stewart. Eva was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica and attended Montego Bay elementary school. At the age of 8 years, Eva went to live with her great-aunt, Alberta Wynn, in the bigger city, Vineyard Town, Kingston where she continued her education. Her siblings Gloria and Norma often spoke of the many trips they had together. Going to Kingston, and her coming to Montego Bay during school holidays on the diesel to visit and spend time together. After a few years living with Aunt Berta, Eva rekindled contact with her father and went to live with him. By this time, he had a wife and family.
Born under the sign of a fish, Eva was not one to float around. She loved to swim and so after a while she decided that it was time to seek another ocean, so she left to sought life on her own. She was a hard worker, very determined and only sought after a better life. She started to do dressmaking, a skill she learned from her great-aunt who was a renowned Custom-Made Designer operating her store in downtown King Street. After doing this for a while on her own, she gained employment at Garment Factories and finally at the biggest one in Jamaica, New Yorker Garment Factory in Kingston, where she remained for over 20 years before migrating to the US. Eva resigned as a supervisor in the underwear department.
Eva could be described as a very hard worker, very fun-loving one who loved to dress and was an excellent homemaker and cook.
Eva had a son, Errol, who predeceased her in the 1990s. She was married twice to Lloyd and Christopher. Left to mourn her loss are siblings: Donald, Dorothy, Carmen, Rosella and Norma. Nieces and nephews: Joy, Janet, Donna, Kay, Dane, Paul, Peter, Carol, Christopher, James, Claude, Kelvin, Deserine, Samantha, Jovan, Clint, Dawn, Denise, and Carlene, and a host of great nieces and great nephews: Tafawa, Rashida, Jelani, Nathaniel, Nicola, Dwight, Dacaldo, Corde, Romell, Leah, Aaron, Nicola, Gregory, Shauan, Rebecca, Gemma, Robert, Georgia, Duerone, Toniene, Zabrina, Craig, Christopher, Annalise, LaToya, Crystal, Christopher, Akeem, Karima, Stephen, Veronica, Sheron, Devon, Kevin, Denise, Andre, Dawn, Beverley, Carl, LaToya, Tamika, Jay, Travis, Robert, Ritchie, Derricka, Javon, Armanrii, Aleka, Tash, Ashika, DeAngelo, Kristen, Jahveer, Jahnila, Rhyan, Amaya, RJ, Ry'Zaiah, Alexis and Brianna, Tamir and Deja.
Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on. Cherished memories never fade because a loved one is gone. Rest in eternal peace my sister.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE, from 10 -11am, a service will begin at 11am. Burial will be held at a later date in Glenwood Cemetery, Washington, DC.
