Evan Brown Beard, 30, a proud resident of the Golden Isles of Georgia, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 25, 2025, following a valiant 7-year cancer journey.
Evan was the type of person you only meet once in a lifetime, and it took just one meeting to realize that. His subtle magnetic energy made him everyone's instant favorite. He never used his charisma to seek the spotlight, always preferring sidebar conversations where he would offer his undivided attention and genuine interest.
His life's work fell into two categories: Wake Up Coffee Company and his family. He joyfully caffeinated the Golden Isles for nearly 15 years, serving as a barista and then Operations Manager of Wake Up Coffee, where he nurtured a passion for coffee and developed deep, lasting connections with customers-turned friends.
While his post behind the bar was important to him, nothing brought him more joy than his family. He was obsessed with his wife, Megan, and showed pictures of his three beautiful children to everyone he met. He loved them ferociously with giant hugs and constant showers of affection. He didn't care what life threw at him; as long as he could end the day with his crew, he was more than satisfied.
Evan spent his life serving people; family, friends, customers, or strangers - it didn't matter. He was the first to respond to any crisis, regardless of whether it was his responsibility or not. He embodied hospitality, always offering whatever he had to whoever needed it without reservation. He was all in, all the time.
He learned this way of life by following the example he saw through Jesus within his Christian faith. His faith was nothing trite. He asked every hard question and wrestled every doubt because he did nothing half-heartedly. This resulted in a full-hearted faith that not only sustained him but also nourished those around him.
He was an avid Braves fan and a skilled musician who loved marsh views, crashing waves, fresh New Balances, delicious food, good coffee, and sitting around a fire chatting with those he loved. He lived every day surrounded by the love of his tight-knit extended family, long-held friendships, and the Golden Isles community as a whole.
We can all only hope to give and receive as much love in our lifetimes as Evan did in his 30 years here.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty and James Brown Rains; his grandfather, Alton Beard; his uncles, Wade and Randy Rains; and his aunt, Suzanne Rains.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Megan; his children, Benjamin, Noah, and Rivi; his parents, Michelle and Gary; his grandmother, Donna; his brothers, Jackson and Sammy; his in-laws, Mark, Liz, Mark Anthony, and Anna; his niece and nephews, Oliver, Esme, and Theo; along with numerous other cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His life will be celebrated on Saturday, June 28, at 11:00 AM at Community Church on Saint Simons Island.
