Evan Meier, age 19, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life tribute for Evan is scheduled for Saturday, December 21, 2024, 1:00 PM, at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Avenue East, Shakopee, MN. Visitation is one hour prior to the tribute.
Evan Patrick Meier was born on July 6, 2005, to Ben and Janelle Meier in Shakopee, MN.
Evan graduated from Franklin Academy in May 2024 and was currently a student at the
Franklin Capstone adult transition program. He was interested in blacksmithing and welding and he was pursuing those goals.
Evan had an old soul that was kind, creative, thoughtful, and funny. He loved wordplay, puns, and dad jokes. He enjoyed the quiet in nature and cherished fishing with his family. He had a wide range of interests that included the histories and mythologies of ancient Egypt and the Norse Vikings, pirates and their ships, astronomy, and puzzles and games that included LEGOs, Minecraft (creative version), and his Meta Quest VR.
He was preceded into death by his grandparents Jule and Doris Jacobson of Porter, MN, and his dog Charmin.
He is survived by his parents, Ben and Janelle Meier of Shakopee, MN; sister, Cora Meier of Shakopee, MN; grandparents, David and Nancy Meier of Marshall, MN, and Jan Botsford of Marshall, MN; aunts and uncles, Michael Meier (Cat Abbott) of Marshall, MN, Trace Botsford of Balaton, MN, Mike Gerber (Kimberlee Guber-Gerber) of Woodbury, MN, Kim Gerber of Fargo, ND, Matt (Adria) Gerber of Minnetrista, MN, and Andrea Weisbond of Deerfield, IL; and cousins, Beau and Lana Meier of Marshall, MN, Kalli Botsford of Balaton, MN, Liberty Nerling and Everlee Gerber of Woodbury, MN, and Liam and Miles Gerber of Minnetrista, MN.
We will forever remember his smile, his laugh, and his unapologetic way of being his true self.
