Evan Richard Roy Ruyts of St. Charles, Michigan
Beloved son, nephew, cousin, and friend passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. He was 20 years old. Evan was born on August 2, 2005, in Saginaw, Michigan to Jim R. Ruyts and Jennifer Solak Ruyts. He attended both St. Charles and Swan Valley Public Schools. Evan worked as an installer for fiber optics as well as a commercial painter. An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, and kayaking locally. Evan loved technology and enjoyed spending time gaming, as well as fixing, building, and working on various computer systems and programs. He loved all animals, especially his beloved German Shepherds: Shadow, Legion, Yami, Pike, and Taurus and his cat, Tripod. He will forever be remembered as a kind and thoughtful soul and for his love and devotion to his family, friends, and pets.
Surviving are his father, Jim R. (Pam Blakeslee) Ruyts of St. Charles; mother, Jennifer Ruyts of Lakeland, FL; a brother and sister: Benjamin Solak and Cassidy Solak; an aunt, Deb (Matt) Murphy of Bay City; girlfriend, Taya Merlone and family of Midland. Also surviving are cousins, friends, and extended family too numerous to mention, but held closely to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Richard and Ruth Ruyts; Stanley and Marion Mansfield; and a best friend, Zane.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the first responders for all their efforts and support to Evan and the family.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Rd., Saginaw, MI 48609. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate.
