Evangeline Elmquist, 91 of Glenwood, formerly of Hoffman, died Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Glenwood Village Care Center.
Evangeline Lorraine Elmquist was born February 21, 1933, the daughter of Adolph and Mabel (Westlund) Elmquist, in Land Township, Grant County, Minnesota. She was born 15 minutes before her twin sister May and cherished every moment they were able to spend together. She attended school districts 41 and 49 and also completed high school classes by correspondence.
Evangeline was well known for her love of flowers. She loved gardening and going for walks to see God's beautiful creation. Evangeline also loved to read and write poetry. It meant so much to her when she could share the poems with others through the books that she and her sister had written. Evangeline had a strong faith and a deep love for Jesus. She read the Bible through many times and spent countless hours in prayer. In her words, "O it's been so glorious to have known Jesus all these years."
Evangeline is survived by extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and twin sister May Violetta Elmquist in September of 2008. In memory of Evangeline please pause to appreciate the beauty of nature; and consider the lilies, the roses, the rainbows, the sunsets, the moon, and the stars. May it cause us to give praise to our Creator, who has provided for us such a wonderful plan of salvation.
