Evangeline Tillman "Vangie" Platt

Evangeline "Vangie" Platt, age 85 (born 10/19/1938), passed away on August 7, 2024. She was preceded by her husband of 51 years, Clyde A. Platt. She was also preceded by her father Earnest "Buck" Tillman, her mother Annie Mae Tillman, one brother Earnest A. Tillman, Jr., one sister Ada Bush Conley, and two half-brothers, Vinson and Sidney J. Tillman. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
She Graduated from Pahokee High School in 1956 and worked in Pahokee until 1960. She then lived in Jupiter and North Palm Beach, where she worked as a secretary at Pratt &Whitney in West Palm Beach for 15 years. After meeting and marrying Clyde in 1970, they made their home in West Palm Beach until 1975 when they moved to Satellite Beach. Until she retired, she continued to work in secretarial positions around Brevard County and at the Space Center for various contractors during the Space Shuttle program. For a short time, she was a real-estate broker in Brevard County.
After retirement, she pursued her interest in watercolors and under the tutelage of the best watercolor teacher in Brevard County, Therese Ferguson, she was able to create many beautiful paintings. She and Clyde were able to fulfill a life-long dream of spending the summers in the North Carolina mountains and were blessed to be able to do that for over 30 years. She found joy in people and laughter and treasured her many long friendships. She loved her church families in both North Carolina and Florida. She is a member of the Foscoe Christian Church in Foscoe, North Carolina and a faithful supporter of the South Patrick Baptist Church in Satellite Beach, Florida.
A memorial service will not be held, but Vangie would like to be remembered whenever her friends are gathered together. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Patrick Baptist Church, 343 South Patrick Drive, Satellite Beach, FL 32937, Foscoe Christian Church, 8843 North Carolina Highway 105 South, Boone, NC 28607, or a charity of your choice.
