Evangelita "Ita" Ferrer

Evangelita "Ita" Ferrer, beloved wife of 50 years of Laurentino Rodriguez and mother of five, was called to be with the Lord on November 21, 2025. She was born in Comerio, Puerto Rico on March 9, 1957, a daughter of the late Eduardo Ferrer and Tomasa Luna Rios. As a child, her family moved to New York in the late 1960s. She later relocated to Massachusetts in the early 1970s and had been a long-time resident of the Greater Lowell area ever since.

Ita dedicated her life to her family, serving primarily as a homemaker. She occasionally held various part-time positions, always ensuring that her motherly responsibilities remained her first priority. Ita found joy in cooking, especially for her family, and also enjoyed gardening and writing poetry.

Her love for Christ was evident in her unconditional love for others and the daily practice of putting their needs before her own. As a wife, she was devoted and faithful; as a mother, she was the pillar of strength to her children; and as a grandmother, she was kind and tenderhearted. She was a cherished favorite aunt to her many nephews and nieces, and a most trusted confidant to her friends.

She was preceded by her parents Eduardo Ferrer and Tomasa Luna Rios; her siblings Adela Ferrer, Nelly Ferrer, and Eduardo Ferrer, her granddaughter Adriana Evangelita Rodriguez, her nephews Javier Ferrer, Augustine Ferrer, Joseph Ferrer and Carlos Morales, her nieces Evelyn Cruz and Luz Janice Ferrer, her son-in-law Robert Normandie, her brother-in law Antonio Fontanez, and sisters-in-law Ana Morales and Maria I. Ferrer.

In addition to her husband Laurentino Rodriguez, Ita is survived by her children, Diana Garcia and her husband Noel of Tyngsborough, Francisco Marrero of Gloucester, Wilfredo Rodriguez of Lowell, Laurentino Rodriguez and his wife Alicia of Methuen, and Jessica Normandie of Lowell; her siblings, Antonia Ferrer, Maria T. Matos and her husband George Matos, Maria J. Ferrer and her husband Edwin Alvarado, Francisco Ferrer, and Ismael Ferrer; her grandchildren, Noel A. Garcia and his wife Julie, Jeremy R. Garcia, Wilfredo Junior Rodriguez, Gabriel Rodriguez and his wife Emma, Sophia Rodriguez, Kameron Rodriguez, Laurentino J. Rodriguez, Gage J. Rodriguez, Juelz X. Rodriguez, Zachary Rodriguez, Daniel Normandie, and Matthew Normandie; also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her dear friend Lucy Cardona.

The family finds comfort in the hope of eternal life and the promise that they will see her again in heaven. (Philippians 1:21: "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.")

FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND ITA'S CALLING HOURS ON MONDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 1, 2025, FROM 9 AM UNTIL 11 AM AT THE FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL. ITA'S FUNERAL SERVICE WILL TAKE PLACE AT 11 AM MONDAY MORNING IN THE FUNERAL HOME. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW IN THE EDSON CEMETERY, LOWELL.
