Evangelyn Hoermann Kramer passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the age of 87. Known to all as Vangie, she shared her beautiful life as a servant to God. Vangie was born on December 30, 1937, in Williamson County, Texas to Martin and Emma Hoermann. Following her graduation from high school, Vangie attended Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde, Texas. She married William Charles Kramer in April 1957 and started their family.
She was employed by Corpus Christi Independent School District for over 30 years, serving as secretary to the principal at Central Park Elementary and Windsor Park Elementary schools. Vangie was very involved in helping organize the Athena Program at Windsor Park and she loved her interactions with students, teachers, and administrators.
Vangie is remembered by her family as a great cook who loved to have people at her home for Sunday lunches. For many years, Vangie and her daughter-in-law, Kathy, hosted a Christmas brunch for friends, neighbors, folks she worked with at school, and members of her church, sharing her love of hospitality. At church fundraisers, year after year, she would contribute her Homemade Pickles, Pickled Okra, Pecan Pies, and Peanut Brittle for members to bid on. Many people left disappointed without having one of her treats, but often, Vangie would deliver a second or third item to those bidders, just asking them to donate back to the church.
Being a Pastor's kid, she grew up traveling across Texas, following her dad and mom to the next church where she met many new friends. She learned to play the piano & organ, sharing that gift in her younger years. She was even a star forward on the Knippa Ladies Rockcrusher's basketball team.
Vangie instilled in her family the importance of education and the value of placing GOD first in their lives. As an active church member, Vangie served on numerous church committees. She enjoyed cooking for others and sharing the gifts that GOD had blessed upon her. She truly lived up to the scripture that God has given us in Proverbs 31. That was not an easy task.
Vangie is survived by her son, Jerry C. Kramer (Kathy), her daughter, Rebecca Lynn Lawson (John), two granddaughters, Stephanie Hopper (Elliott) and Lauren Lawson, two great grandsons, Peter James Hopper and Christopher Matthew Hopper, great granddaughter, Madeline Hopper, sister-in-law Peggy Bielfeldt, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Vangie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her parents, two brothers, one sister-in-law, and two stepsisters.
Vangie's Village stretched far and wide and included those who were GOD's servants to her in her last days. Linda and Janet genuinely shared their love with Vangie, along with Meggan, of Harbor Hospice, who was extremely helpful in managing Vangie's last days with us. We are eternally grateful to them for their caring attention and kindness.
