Evelena Blanche Williams-Spiller

We are deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Evelena Blanche Williams-Spiller, a cherished matriarch, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. She was surrounded by the warmth and love of her family at the remarkable age of 99. Evelena leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. She is survived by her children, Evelena "Marie" Jones (Gleanford), Gloria, and Napoleon Williams; her granddaughter, Sharnell Jones-Farlough (Jaison); her great-grandson, Shamaa'd; and two bonus grandchildren, Kierce and Kais; and her brother, John Williams, of Yuba City, CA. Evelena is preceded in death by her parents, the late Joseph Williams, Sr., and Mary J. Williams; the late Samuel Joseph Williams and Willie Lee Spiller. She cherished her role as a sister to the late Annie Bell Scie, Ida, Joseph, Jr., James, and Howard Williams. We invite family and friends to join us in Celebrating Evelena's Extraordinary Life on Saturday, September 20, 2025, for 10:00 a.m. at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, located at 8282 I-10 Service Road, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 8:45 a.m. Pastor Fred Luter, Jr. will officiate the service. Services will also be streaming on www.franklinabc.com. Following the service, we will lay her to rest at Providence Memorial Park & Mausoleum in Metairie, LA.
