Evelyn Yvonne Benedict

Evelyn Yvonne Benedict, 86, of Marysville, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 18, 2025, at Memorial Hospital after months of failing health.

One of seven children, Evelyn was born October 26, 1939, at home in Mt. Victory to James Garrett and Eva Irene (Fields) Oberdier. After graduating from Richwood High School, she worked at the A&W in Delaware, where she met and fell in love with Dale G. Benedict. The two were married December 14, 1958, beginning 58 years of love, family, and dedication to each other.

Together with Dale, they owned and operated Benedict Hardware in both Milford Center and North Lewisburg. Evelyn was a hard worker, and she was very dedicated to their business and their customers. Active within the community, she ran the Labor Day Festival in North Lewisburg for a few years and was a member of the Milford Center United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping with family and friends throughout the years, and loved traveling with Dale to locations such as Florida, Hawaii, Spain, Tangiers, and Japan. Fun loving and devoted to her family, Evelyn embraced her role as the matriarch, and she cherished being a grandma and great grandma – her grandchildren were true joy to her.

She is survived by her children Kay (Donnie) Boyer of North Lewisburg, Kim (Thomas) Barrick of Wheelersburg, Kevin Benedict of Marysville, and Keith (Karen) Benedict of Plain City; grandchildren Shane (Ashley) Boyer, Kayla (Kyle) Dawson, Danielle Benedict, Logan Barrick and Dylan (Rachel) Benedict; great grandchildren Gracie, Brody, Bryce, Blair, Baker, Liam, Graham, and Isla; a special sister-in-law Wilma Oberdier; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and loyal customers through the years.

Along with her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, whom she missed every day since his passing on September 13, 2015; as well as her siblings.

Graveside services to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held 11 am Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Milford Center Cemetery with Pastor Jack Heino officiating.
