Evelyn Melson Chalk

Evelyn Melson Chalk was born on May 10, 1937 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Dewey Hopson and Lula Lee Shubert Melson.
She was united in marriage to J.R. Chalk, who preceded his wife in death on May 10, 2006.
Evelyn was a caregiver and raised several foster children over the years. She loved to have company over to her house and cook delicious meals for her friends and family. Mrs. Chalk enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, and watching tv, especially westerns.
Evelyn Melson Chalk departed this life on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 in Millington, Tennessee, at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 25 days.
She is survived by her daughters, Rosa Provencio (Richard) and Patricia Funk (Robert); sister, Mae Ray; brothers, Tommy Jack Melson and Milton Lee Melson; grandchildren, Nathaniel Provencio, Elijah Provencio, Selena Harville, BJ Harville, Michelle Cox, and Christmas Strom; and great grandchildren, Evan Provencio, Lilly Provencio, Haley Harville, Kayla Harville, Eric Cruz, Miguel Cruz, William Buckley, Elizabeth Cox, Rachel Cox, and Ocean Cox. She is also survived by April Johnson, the foster child she had for the longest.
In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Ledford Melson and Benton Melson and sisters, Elma Hopper, Linda Gale Kious, and Juanita Johnson.
