Evelyn “Evie” M. (Conlin) Cummings, passed away on July 18, 2024, at the age of 87. Evelyn was the beloved wife of the late Raymond P. Cummings. Born in Lowell on December 21, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Leo Conlin, Sr. and H. Hazel (Dempsey) Conlin. Evelyn attended St. Michael School in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1954. She went on to spend over four decades dedicated to her career in telephone communications. She made countless life-long friends, retiring from Verizon in 1997.
Evelyn's greatest treasure was her family. She cherished her role as a mother to her beloved daughter and best friend, Kerry, with whom she resided since the passing of her husband, Raymond, in 2012. She was the most amazing “Nana” to her two grandsons, Dylan and Trevor, sharing countless hours with them entertaining any new interest they had growing up, especially cooking and baking.
Evelyn was known for her monthly dinner menus and her creative cake decorating, making birthdays special for everyone. She loved nothing more than hosting parties and gatherings with loved ones. Summers at Salisbury Beach were a cherished tradition for the family, filled with endless memories. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, known for her unwavering kindness and patience. Her infectious smile was recognized everywhere she went.
She was a life-long parishioner of St. Michael Church in Lowell and a communicant of St. Francis Church in Dracut in recent years.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Kerry Johnson, and her husband Eric of Dracut; her two grandsons, Dylan Johnson of Altamonte Springs, FL, and Trevor Johnson of Dracut; six nieces and nephews, Maureen Capra, of Dracut, Leo Conlin III of Norton, Arthur "Tiny" Conlin and his wife Diane, of Billerica, Kenneth Conlin of Seabrook, NH, William Masterson and his wife Theresa, of Dracut, and Patricia Manock of Lowell; eight grand-nieces and nephews, William, Scott, Maura, Steven, David, Geoff, Meghan and Jarod.
She is the sister of the late Leo Conlin, Jr., Louise Masterson and Barbara Conlin.
Relatives and friends are invited to Evelyn’s Life Celebration on Monday, July 22, 2024, from 4 until 7 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM in St. Michael Church, Lowell. Burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyn’s memory to St. Michael Parish, 543 Bridge Street, Lowell, MA 01850.
