God called Evelyn into Heaven Thursday July 25, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving children after several months of failing health.

Evelyn was first and foremost a child of the King. She was born May 18, 1932, to the late Eura and Lillian Brown. She was the wife of almost 69 years to her sweetheart, Bob, when he was called home in 2019. She was a loving Mama to her 3 children, Ray Curl and wife Patricia of Graham, Kathy Snipes and husband Lyman of Burlington, and Janie Myers of Burlington. She was Grandmama to 6 grandchildren, Jason Curl and wife Jeannine, Benjamin Curl, Casey Herndon and husband John, Cameron Snipes and wife Amanda, Lucas Riley, and Rachel Overkamp and husband Eric. She was Great Grandmama to 14 great grandchildren, Meagan Frazier and husband Brent, Addison and Kiera Curl, Hayden, Will and Chance Curl, Payton and Ryker Herndon, Logan Snipes, Kaleb and Isabelle Riley, and Evan, Hunter and Elijah Overkamp. She was a great, great Grandmama to Nolan Frazier. She was big sister to Margaret Swaney and husband Jim. She loved and was loved by many nieces and nephews as well. She was also preceded in death by her sister Norma Gordon.

She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Burlington for over 55 years where she held several roles including Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed reading her Bible and spending time with her Savior. She was a mighty prayer warrior for many people. She enjoyed homemaking and taking care of her husband and children, spending time with her family playing cards and board games, especially with the grandchildren, as well as crocheting, cross stitching and keeping up with friends and family on Facebook. She really loved going on annual family beach trips to Oak Island, NC. She was also an LPN and enjoyed working in labor and delivery where she was able to be a witness to many families.

The family would like to thank the staff of AuthoraCare Collective Hospice and Palliative Care programs for the excellent care they provided in her final days. Lisa, Joy, Lori, Julie, PJ, Asia, and Tracy. You are the best! We would also like to thank her private nurse Sherry Padgett, who is an angel and an answer to our prayer. Thanks for taking such good care of our Mama.

A service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be held at 11:00am on Monday July 29, 2024 at Fellowship Baptist Church by Rev. Mike Williams with the burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5pm on Sunday July 28, 2024 at the church and other times at the home.
