Evelyn Shavers Floyd was born September 16, 1936 to Samuel and Geraldine Shavers in Newton Falls, Ohio. She was the second of five children. She enjoyed singing in church, running track, and roller skating in her younger years.
Evelyn married Roscoe Floyd on April 28, 1962. They welcomed their son Roscoe Jr. and continued moving around the world as a military family, spending time in Okinawa, Japan, Bangor, Maine, and Grissom Airforce Base in Indiana before settling in Groveport, Ohio.
Evelyn worked in the catalog customer service department for JC Penny Catalog Distribution Center and retired after more than 20 years of service. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, singing, crafting, and baking.
Evelyn was a member of New Genesis Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess and Choir Director. A Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother Evelyn and Roscoe were blessed to celebrate fifty years of marriage on April 28, 2012.
Evelyn departed this life on Thursday July 11, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband Roscoe, son Roscoe Jr. her parents Samuel and Geraldine Shavers, sister Arlene Body, and brother Richard Shavers.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Angela (Eddie) Green, beloved grandchildren Evan, Adriana, and Destinee Green, brothers Samuel (Mysherdie) Shavers, Robert (Barbara) Shavers, Sister in laws Sharyn Floyd, Virginia Floyd, Godson Matthew (Janell) Richardson, best friends Alice Young and Barbara Garside, a host of nieces, other family members and friends.
