Evelyn Loyce Gaubert

Evelyn Loyce Honses Gaubert, a beloved native of New Orleans, Louisiana, died peacefully on November 18, 2024 in her home at Laurel Senior Living.
After graduating from Warren Easton High School in 1969, Evelyn enjoyed a career as a clothing buyer at D.H. Holmes department stores. She married Daniel Gaubert in 1975, and channeled her love for shopping into decorating their homes in Singapore, Dubai, London, and Belgium. After living briefly in Stow, Ohio, the couple returned to New Orleans to raise their two children before ultimately retiring in Houston, Texas.
Known for her vibrant red hair and charming "Nawlins" accent, Evelyn was a lifelong lover of animals and an avid Beatles fan. In her final years, Evelyn enjoyed attending Catholic mass and chair yoga class before raking in Bingo winnings with a cold glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Cleo Rogers and George Honses Sr., sisters Ida Picou and Georgia Bassett, and husband Daniel. She is survived by her daughter Renée, son Ryan (spouse Aubrie), brother George (spouse Jamie), and many other loving relatives.
A memorial service will be held at Garden of Memories Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4900 AIrline Dr. Metairie, LA. 70001 on Monday, November 25, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM with a Service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be immediately thereafter.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Audubon Nature Institute in Evelyn's honor.
