Evelyn Gregorczyk of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on January 2, 2025 at the age of 76. Evelyn lived a full and vibrant life, dedicated to her family, friends and her career.
Evelyn was Born in Beeville, Texas on July 30, 1948. She spent her early years living and working on the family farm in Tynan, Texas, setting the foundation for her strong work ethic. She was a gifted all-around athlete in high school, earning All-State honors in basketball her Senior year. She was united in marriage to the love of her life and best friend, Gilbert Gregorczyk on June 3, 1967. They started their lives together in Papalote, Texas where she eventually went back to school at night to earn her Master's degree in Psychology and her Professional Counseling License. Her education enabled her to begin working for H-E-B. where she flourished for 39 years. At H-E-B, she made a lifelong impact on hundreds of Partners through her leadership, mentorship and friendship, and was profoundly impacted by those relationships in return. Evelyn and Gilbert lived in Pleasanton, Canyon Lake, and San Antonio before his passing in 2017. Outside of work and during retirement, she loved to travel, spoil her grandchildren and just have a load of fun. Evelyn was truly present in all that she did and treasured being with family and friends.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Shane (Allison) Gregorczyk of Austin and Sheri (Kevin) Best of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Lauren Gregorczyk(24), Abby Gregorczyk(21), Brooke Lindley(23), Reed Best(16), and Cade Best(15); her sister, Elizabeth Gold and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gilbert Gregorczyk, her parents Ed and Lela Mae Fojtik, her sister, Margie Dieringer and her brother, Felix Fojtik.
Evelyn's legacy of love, enthusiasm, hard work and dedication to her family and friends will be remembered and cherished forever. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of so many, and she will be deeply missed by all lucky enough to have known and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Church in San Antonio, preceded by a visitation at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org for Glioblastoma brain cancer research, or Magdalena House, a local cause close to Evelyn's heart. Contributions can be sent to P.O. Box 692041, San Antonio, TX 78269, or made online at https://maghouse.org/give. Your generosity will help continue the work that meant so much to Evelyn.

Evelyn and I were friends growing up. My mother did her entire family's
hair for years; as well as Gilbert's mother, sister. So sorry for your loss.

A very vibrant child and woman.
