Evelyn Rose Hudgins

Evelyn Rose Soles Williams Hudgins, 95, of Mathews, Virginia passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Rose was a member of Bethel Church of Mathews and a past matron of Oriental Chapter # 30, Order of the Eastern Star in Mathews. She retired from Bendix-Allied Signal and Siemens in Newport News, Virginia. She also worked part-time for Bay Transit in Gloucester and Mathews. Rose loved her family unconditionally, and she was exceptionally kind-hearted to everyone she met. We will cherish her memory always.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, James F. Williams, Jr., Arnold S. Hudgins, and Orin Franklin Hudgins; her parents, Eppa and Ada Soles; three brothers; six sisters; her two step-sons, William (Billy) Hudgins, Captain James Arnold Hudgins, and her grandson, David Hudgins.

Rose is survived by her grandson, Daniel Hudgins; granddaughters, Maria Jose Hudgins Rivera (Andy), Maria D. Hudgins Bohannon (Chad), Teresa Hudgins Summerhill, and Angel Hudgins; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her very dear and special friends, Diane Hudgins, Louise Elkin, and Shelia Thompson.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to Noon at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster Faulkner Chapel, Mathews. A funeral service will be held following the visitation, with burial to follow in H.C. Smither Cemetery, Hudgins, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
