Evelyn Knitter Obituary
Evelyn Knitter, age 98, of Grand Rapids, MI, formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away to glory on October 2, 2025, knowing in confidence she was saved by the blood of her Savior.
Evelyn loved collecting paperdolls, books, antique items and reminiscing about anything related to her beloved Biloxi, Mississippi Gulf Coast.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Ethel Kozlowski; siblings, Robert Wayne Kozlowski, Shirley Walker, Jane Schaitel, Adam Kozlowski; husband, Alfred Charles Knitter; son, Robert Taylor and daughter, Karen Jan Brillhart.
Evelyn is survived by her 4 grandchildren, Michael (Sandra) Taylor, Scot (Kimberly) Taylor, David (Amy) Brillhart, and Wendy (Tim) Wells along with 11 great-grandchildren, Jared (Veronica) Taylor, Brenton (Jacquline) Stover, Ashley (Brian) Ferrell, Kristina (Austin) Gullett, Mallory Brillhart, Rachel Brillhart, Ashley (Jared) Skaggs, Katie Wells, Grace Wells and 8 great-great-grandchildren, Zoey, Grayson, Kinsley, Parker, Olivia, Amelia. Also surviving Evelyn is her daughter-in-law, Frances Taylor and sister, Nancy Henry.
People often share about Evelyn’s southern charm. Even after being away from the coast for over 70 years, her beautiful southern drawl remained and often she was heard saying God Bless You, calling people darlin’ or speaking words of praise and encouragement overflowing from a heart of love and care for those around her.
There will be a private family graveside service at Old Biloxi Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi.
