EVELYN ALICE NICHOLS MCNICHOLL
Evelyn Alice Nichols McNicholl, age 88, passed away Monday, November 4th at the Villa in Rose City, MI. She was recuperating there from a major fall, and then from suffering Congestive Heart Failure.
Monday, October 28th.
Evelyn was born on May 7th, 1936 in Detroit, MI to Alice and George Nichols. She attended Catholic Central High School. Evie met her husband of 65 years, Peter Joseph McNicholl, through her brothers Edward Nichols, and Leo Nichols. She captured his heart by helping her father fix the gate. The couple was married on February 11, 1956.
Evelyn worked at Edison Light, and Pete was a Chrysler engineer.
After the birth of their fourth child, the couple sold their properties and moved to Sage Lake, in Hale, MI where they owned and operated Scenic Shores Resort and Pro Welding. They were an industrious couple who raised chickens and rabbits, started American Pleasure Products (Aqua Cycles), gardened, did snow plowing, and found many other ways to provide for their family including hunting and fishing.
Evie is preceded in death by her husband Peter Joseph McNicholl, her brother Leo Nichols and his wife Mary Nichols, her brother Ed Nichols and his wife Ruby Nichols, her brother Albert Nichols and his wife.
Mary Nichols, her brother-in-law Jack (John) McNicholl, her sister-in-law Patricia McNicholl McNeally Kage her spouses Harold McNeally and Ron Kage, and her brother-in-law Fred Voelker and Grandson Devon Nichols.
Evelyn is survived by her sisters Ellen (Nichols) Robison, and Mary (Nichols) Silvey. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Diane McNicholl, and Cindy (McNicholl) Voelker, brother-in-law Tom McNicholl, children
Debra McNicholl Kuhn, Janette McNicholl Smith & Dan Smith, Chris McNicholl & Monica McNicholl, and Deana McNicholl Nichols & Jeff Nichols. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kristie (Kuhn) & Ron
Heal, Michelle Kuhn, Alan Hall, Jesse & Melissa McNicholl, Justin & Katie Smith, Quentin & Melissa Smith, Michael & Samantha Nichols, Natasha (Nichols) & Brian Gottlieb, Dylan & Annamarie Nichols, and Catriana Nichols. Evie is survived by great-grandchildren Karly Heal; Kyle & Haylee Heal; Ryan Heal; Hayden Heal; Hunter, Timber, and River Smith; Bentley King, Zachary & Michael Smith; Jesse II and Aubrey McNicholl; Aiden, Ryleigh, & Megan Nichols; and Victoria & Elizabeth Nichols.
Evelyn enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, sewing, cooking, canning, baking, crafting, traveling, participating in car shows, and games, and most of all, cherished time with friends and family.
Evie was a volunteer 4-H Leader and an active member of St. Pius Church, the Rods & Relics Car Club as well as the Desoto Car Club. She worked at Hill Twp. as the Deputy Clerk and on the Board of Elections until Pete needed her at home more. Evie enjoyed activities with friends like Chair Volleyball, Bingo, and crafts at the Ogemaw Commission on Aging. Evelyn was a loving, kind, strong, and active woman right to
the end who cherished her independence!
A Celebration of Life is being planned for this coming spring. In place of flowers, donations can be made to St. Pius Catholic Church 3900 M-65 Hale, MI 48739, or Ogemaw Commission on Aging 1528 S M33.
