Evelyn Miller Obituary
Evelyn Lorraine Abraham Miller died July 12, 2025 at The Gardens in Springfield, MO.
She was born June 30, 1940 in Meaghers Grant, Halifax County, Nova Scotia Canada.
She was the daughter of Carl F. and Pansy G. McMichael Brown.
Evelyn grew up in Peoria Heights, Illinois where she graduated from Richwood High School. She graduated from Illinois Central College.
July 3, 1960 she married John C. (Jack) Abraham in Peoria, Illinois. They raised their family in Metamora, Illinois.
Lorraine was a charter member of the Metamora Germantown Hills Junior Woman's Club. She was active many years with both Boys and Girls Scouting Programs.
She was the first site manager of the Woodford County Nutrition Program for the elderly beginning in 1975. She was an Activity Director and also worked at few of the local nursing homes.
In 1985 when her husband retired they moved to Missouri and resided in Benton County for 38 years. She last worked at Bothwell hospital in Sedalia, MO.
She was a member of the Lakeside Homemakers (later known as the Happy Homemakers) for 32 years. She volunteered at the Christian Outreach in Lincoln, MO for 10 years. She enjoyed playing cards with her "65 Club" in Warsaw for 15 years and 8 years with the 5 C'S in Lincoln.
She loved to cook and entertain and frequently did so. She judged 9 years at the Missouri State Fair in the Home Ec Building. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Cole Camp, MO. Lifetime member of the Benton County Historical Society. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Alpha Gamma Alpha Chapter and a member of Lincoln United Methodist Church and Ruth Circle.
She was preceded in death by John C. Abraham December 21, 2010. She moved to The Gardens in Springfield, MO. January 26, 2022 where she met and married Rev'd Martin V. Miller December 17, 2022. They loved all the activities, outings and the wonderful group of friends they have.
She is survived by a son Thomas W. Abraham (Bobbie) and a daughter Barbara Ann Jones. 4 Grandchildren Matthew Jones (Laurissa), LeAnne Aust, Monica Springston (JR.) and Ben Abraham. 7 Great Grandchildren, Khloe Jones, Lexi Jones, Jameson Matthis, Mierra Jones, Finnlee Jones, Danny Springston, Eleanor Springston.
Graveside Services will be held at Lincoln Cemetery in Lincoln, Missouri, Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 1:00 P.M.
