Evelyn Morris
Sunrise: October 3, 1951
Sunset: July 3, 2025
Evelyn Morris, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, peacefully entered eternal rest on July 3, 2025, surrounded by love.
Born on October 3, 1951, to the late Oscar and Lillian Morris, Evelyn was a proud graduate of North High School, Class of 1971. She went on to dedicate 36 years of service to Allstate Insurance and later worked 10 more years at Kaufmann’s/Macy’s, touching many lives through her kindness, strong work ethic, and joyful spirit.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Hallie Thomas; brother Ulysee Jenkins; and her grandson Lavert Finney.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her devoted children, Melissa Johnson and Thomas Shaw Jr. (Chassidy Shaw); her adoring grandchildren: Laticia Johnson, Malasia Wilson, Martavien Johnson, Thomas Shaw III, and Taiden Shaw; and her beloved great-grandchildren: Jermani Stephens, Riley McWain, Jaice Cody, and Daamin Wilson.
She is also survived by her loving twin brother Melvin Morris (Toni Bruce), sisters Beverly Dejournett and Ruby Vinson, her cherished nephew Andre Smith, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Evelyn’s greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, filling their lives with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable memories. She enjoyed listening to music—especially anything by Michael Jackson—cooking, reading, watching westerns, going to concerts, and dancing whenever the moment felt right.
Evelyn was the heart of her family—a steady presence, a comforting voice, and a true light in our lives. Her legacy of love and joy will remain with us forever.
We thank God for the gift of her life and the blessing of her love. May her soul rest in peace.
