Evelyn M. Murray

ALEXANDRIA, IN – Evelyn M. (Gardner) Murray, 100, met her Lord and Savior from her residence on Saturday, October 11, 2025, following an extended illness.
She was born on August 5, 1925, in Summitville to Chester and Dora (Anderson) Gardner and lived in northern Madison County all her lifetime. She was a graduate of Summitville High School-Class of 1944. Evelyn worked for Guide-Lamp for 19 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Summitville Wesleyan Bible Holiness Church. "Evie" enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She bowled in several area bowling leagues for a number of years. She was a giver, had a big heart, and would help anyone in any way she could. She was a fan of the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts. Evie will be sadly missed but fondly remembered for her keen sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband-Wade Murray in 1993, her daughter-Debra Murray Miller in 2020, her brother-Robert Anderson in 2010
Services honoring Evelyn's life, legacy and faith will take place at 1 pm on Friday, October 17, 2025, in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria with Pastor Danny Decker officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville. The Murray family will receive friends after 12 Noon on Friday at the funeral home.
