Robert "Bob Tobe" Dean

ALEXANDRIA, IN – Robert "Bob" "Tobe" Dean, 91, entered peace and rest from his residence on Monday, October 13, 2025, following a brief illness.
He was born on November 27, 1933, in Summitville to Rolla and Mary (Kaufman) Dean and has resided in Alexandria for the past 29 years. Tobe was a graduate of Summitville High School-Class of 1951. In his early years, he played softball for the Summitville Aces. He retired from Delco-Remy, formerly of Anderson in 1989 after 38 years of employment. He was a member of the Summitville First Christian Church and served on the Madison-Grant School Board. An avid golfer, Tobe was a member of the Alexandria Yule Men's Golf Club. His life has been full of family and friends, going to country music concerts, vacationing together, golfing with his golf buddies and playing cards in a euchre club. He enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts and IU athletics.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 70 years Shirley Elsworth Dean in 2023, siblings Gladys Seibold, Betty Barker and Jack Dean
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service to honor Tobe's life and legacy on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:30 am in Vinson Memorial Cemetery at Summitville. Pastor Nathan Lutterman will officiate.

Tobe's care and service arrangements have been entrusted to Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria.
