Evelyn Arlene Schneider, 95, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away on December 24, 2024. Evelyn was born on December 24, 1929 in Savanna, the daughter of Ernest August Karl and Hazel Pearl (Hicks) Mielke.
She is a 1947 graduate of the Savanna High School. Evelyn met the love of her life, Richard Schneider, in the summer of 1950, it was a perfect day for a picnic with friends. On February 18, 1951 they were married at the Savanna United Methodist Church. They celebrated over 70 years of marriage until Richard's passing in 2021.
Evelyn was a farmer's wife, tending to her big garden and baking up a storm in the kitchen. She was known for her hard work, the way she organized everything, and her love of dancing – ever since learning to dance before their daughter's wedding, Evelyn and Richard were regulars at the local dance halls, cutting a rug to the sounds of polka and big band.
