Evelyn Kay Streitmatter, 82, passed away on Friday April 19th 2024, at the Lofts in Peoria, Illinois.
Evelyn was born to George and Minnie (Leeds) Derr, on May 29th, 1941, in Canton, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are her three children, Robert (Golda Ewalt) Streitmatter of Peoria, Sharon (Walter Jr.) Rambow of Princeville, William (Kelly) Streitmatter of Yates City; and seven grandchildren Walter Rambow, Jonathan Rambow, Jenna Rambow, Brandon Streitmatter, Autumn Streitmatter, Hannah Streitmatter and Maranda Streitmatter.
Evelyn graduated from Farmington High School and attended business school. She retired from L. R. Nelson, where she was a Team Lead for many years.
A longtime member of the Princeville United Methodist Church and the Peoria Herb Guild, she enjoyed gardening, genealogy, line-dancing and karaoke with friends, hosting family dinners and collecting Santa Clauses. More recently, she was involved in supporting the Princeville Heritage Museum. Evelyn dearly loved animals, sharing the trait with all her children, but above all, she was a proud mom. She was the den mother, she rescued you from trees, she attended the football games, she attended the band concerts, and she made sure there was money in your account during school.
A private Celebration of Life will be held for the family. The family wishes to thank OSF Hospice for their care and assistance. Memorial Donations may be given to the Humane Society of Fulton County, 22988 Illinois 9, Canton, IL 61520. Cards can be sent from and condolences left at illinicremation.com
