Marlene Streitmatter Obituary
She was born on July 26, 1932, in Jasper County, to Charles and Gladys (Clark) Torbet.
A graduate of Fair Oaks High School, Class of 1950, Marlene married the love of her life, Richard K. Streitmatter, on June 2, 1951. They shared 68 wonderful years together before his passing on Sept. 4, 2019.
Marlene was a dedicated homemaker and bookkeeper, managing the books for the family farm with care and precision. A devoted wife and mother, Marlene loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, always placing their needs before her own. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, solving Sudoku puzzles, and caring for her home. A faithful member of First Baptist Church of Francesville, Marlene possessed an unwavering commitment to her Savior.
Marlene is survived by her children, Marla (Doug) Swafford, West Carrollton, Ohio, Mark (Becky) Streitmatter, Rensselaer, and Mike (Cheri) Streitmatter, Rensselaer; daughter-in-law, Julie Streitmatter, Mount Vernon; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, R. Keith; son, Melvin Streitmatter; brother, Jeryld Torbet; sister, Doris Vass; and two grandsons, Samuel Streitmatter and Aaron Streitmatter.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 11 from 3 – 7 p.m. CDT at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 10 a.m. CDT at the funeral chapel with Pastor Dennis Gutwein officiating.
Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Rensselaer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Francesville – Mission Fund, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
