Evelyn Sweeney Obituary

Evelyn was born on March 3, 1929, to George and Eula (Tevis) Jackson. She was the beloved wife of the late George Sweeney Jr., and together they shared a life built on love, hard work, and devotion to family.
A dedicated homemaker, Evelyn found joy in creating a warm and welcoming home. She had a remarkable talent for woodworking, tended beautiful vegetable and flower gardens, and possessed a true green thumb. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family. Evelyn was also a member of Memphis Christian Church.
She is survived by her loving children, Ronald (Michelle) Sweeney, Roger (Helen) Sweeney, Sharon Sigman, Rita Collins, and Marcia Lesnet; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; 14 brothers; 2 sisters; her daughter, Martha Chapman; and two grandsons, Troy and Michael Chapman.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Dave Colbert at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Henryville, Indiana, with burial to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Family and friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Thursday November 20, 2025 all at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Henryville, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be made in Evelyn's honor to Memphis Christian Church or Mt. Zion Cemetery.
