Thomas Kulmer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Adams Funeral Home Henryville on Feb. 11, 2026.
Thomas "Bruce" Kulmer, 82, passed away on February 5, 2026, at his home in Mission Viejo, California. He suffered for several years from Alzheimer's disease.

Born on January 1, 1944, he was the youngest of 4 siblings born to Mary E. Kulmer and Andy G. Kulmer. Bruce lived a full life marked by warmth and a strong work ethic. As a youth, Bruce excelled in the Boy Scouts of America and achieved the highest ranking of Eagle Scout. In high school, Bruce was a drummer and continued to share his love of music throughout his life with his family. He served in the Army during the Vietnam era and attended OCS, thereby achieving a commissioned officer rank of Second Lt. He graduated in the top ten of his class, and he was later offered an RA commission. He declined the commission and returned to civilian life in Indiana, where he completed College at the University of Louisville with majors in Mathematics and Chemistry. Bruce worked with some of the largest names in the computer industry from the late 70's until his retirement. He loved gardening, sailing, carpentry, travelling, and spending time with friends and family. He always preferred to do projects himself and renovated three homes to his liking and perfection. He was known for his kind nature, heart of gold, and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

His wife, Marie Vest Kulmer, survives him. He also leaves behind his daughter, Kirsten M. Kulmer, and her partner, Ralph N. Kravitz, along with her son, Sebastien Kulmer-Firer, and his wife, Alexandra Touch, and sons, Maximilien Kulmer-Firer and Brandon Kulmer-Garza. Bruce was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews located throughout the country.

He is deeply missed by his loving family. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

Visitation will be starting at Noon with funeral services beginning at 1:30 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026 all held at Adams family Funeral Home & Crematory in Henryville, IN with graveside service to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, IN.

Yesterday

He was one of the best! We were good friends in high school, and he cracked me up with his dry sense of humor. His "Kilroy Was Here" drawings were everywhere! Heartfelt condolences to Mimi and their family.
