Martha Louise Barlet of Underwood, IN, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family, meeting her Lord and Savior on March 22, 2026 following a brief illness.

Martha was born on August 20, 1933 in Olean, NY to the late Howard and Marion (Holcomb) Brundage. She graduated from Olean High School in 1951.

Martha spent her early adult life as a homemaker and later went on to work in the Central Supply department at St. Francis Hospital transitioning to the Olean General Hospital prior to her retirement. In 1991, she married the late James T. Barlet. Martha fell in love with horses at the age of four and owned several horses over the years. She enjoyed trail riding, horse shows, and mentoring those that shared her love of horses.

Even at the age of 92, Martha was still able to ride her horse Snickers. Martha was an avid reader and a talented painter.

In addition to her late husband James, Martha was preceded in death by her sisters Ruth Brundage and Joan Stephen. She is survived by her sister Betty Stephen of Raleigh, NC; her children, Tim (Cathy) Hoffmier of Harrisburg, PA, Kathy (Gary) Stone

of Underwood, IN, Mark (Marie) Hoffmier of Austin, IN, Kelly (Terry) Madison of Deputy, IN, and Kami (Ken) Fisher of Midway, GA.

She is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at Craigs Performance Horses in Scottsburg, IN for bringing Martha's beloved horse to her home for one last visit. The family also wishes to thank all the compassionate caregivers at Gentiva Hospice for their care and comfort in her final days. A celebration of life is planned for July 25, 2026 with details to be disclosed at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends may donate to their SPCA or Hospice of their

choice.
