Evelyn Artie Wilson

On September 29, 2025, Evelyn A. Wilson, devoted mother, wife, and friend, passed away at the age of 93. She was the elder of two children born to Ola Fay Bishop and George Washington Bearden, in Celeste, Texas in 1931.

She graduated from Celeste High School. On June 1, 1947 she married Charles R. Wilson. They were married for 52 years.

She received her Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Education from Sam Houston State University. Evelyn was a long-time teacher and administrator in the Cy-Fair ISD and dearly loved her colleagues and the children with whom she worked.

Evelyn, who was affectionately known as Granny, loved to cook for her friends and family and had an extensive collection of cook books. She liked to travel and watch her birds and spend time in the outdoors. Most of all she loved to have fun.

She was an active member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and served on the legislative committee as well as the local AARP chapter and the Red Hat Ladies.

Left to cherish her memories are; children Michael Wilson and Mary Wilson; brother, Jerry Brewer; grandchildren, Matthew Wilson (Kimberly) Jeremy Wilson (Maegan), Christopher Wilson (Vicki), Virginia Cole (Michael) and Madison Zoch, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, and her son, Steven Paul, and her brother, Gordon.

Evelyn made a positive impact on all who knew her. She was greatly admired and respected by the kids in her schools and with the colleagues with whom she worked. It was easy to love her and she will be sorely missed.
